Preparation
The following placeholders are used in this guide:
flasharray.companyis the FQDN of the FlashArray web interface.authentik.companyis the FQDN of the authentik installation.
This documentation lists only the settings that you need to change from their default values. Be aware that any changes other than those explicitly mentioned in this guide could cause issues accessing your application.
This guide was tested with Purity//FA 6.12 and authentik 2026.8.3.
authentik configuration
To support the integration of FlashArray with authentik, you need to create a SAML property mapping, an application/provider pair, and application entitlements for the FlashArray roles.
Create a role property mapping
FlashArray assigns a role to each user from the purity_roles SAML attribute. This mapping sends the names of the user's FlashArray application entitlements in that attribute.
-
Log in to authentik as an administrator and open the authentik Admin interface.
-
Navigate to Customization > Property Mappings and click New Property Mapping.
-
Select SAML Provider Property Mapping and click Next.
-
Configure the following settings:
-
Name:
FlashArray roles -
SAML Attribute Name:
purity_roles -
Expression:
return [entitlement.namefor entitlement in request.user.app_entitlements(provider.application)]
-
-
Click Finish.
Create an application and provider
authentik 2026.5 introduces changes to how the SAML provider behaves. Specifically, the provider now automatically sets the Issuer value to: https://authentik.company/application/saml/<application_slug>/metadata/
Older versions of authentik set this value to authentik by default. If you're running an older version, please set Issuer to https://authentik.company/application/saml/<application_slug>/metadata/, where <application_slug> is the slug that you selected for the application.
-
Log in to authentik as an administrator and open the authentik Admin interface.
-
Navigate to Applications > Applications and click New Application to open the application wizard.
- Application: provide a descriptive name, an optional group for the type of application, the policy engine mode, and optional UI settings.
- Under UI settings, set the Launch URL to
https://flasharray.company/fa_saml2sso_login.
- Under UI settings, set the Launch URL to
- Choose a Provider type: select SAML Provider as the provider type.
- Configure the Provider: provide a name (or accept the auto-provided name), the authorization flow to use for this provider, and the following required configurations:
- Set the ACS URL to
https://temp.temp. You will replace it after you configure FlashArray. - Under Advanced protocol settings:
- Select an available Signing Certificate.
- Add
FlashArray rolesto the selected Property mappings. - Set NameID Property Mapping to
authentik default SAML Mapping: Username.
- Set the ACS URL to
- Configure Bindings (optional): you can create a binding (policy, group, or user) to manage the listing and access to applications on a user's Application Dashboard page.
- Application: provide a descriptive name, an optional group for the type of application, the policy engine mode, and optional UI settings.
-
Click Create Application.
Create application entitlements
Each entitlement name must match a built-in FlashArray role: array_admin, storage_admin, ops_admin, or readonly. Create an entitlement for each role that you want to assign.
- Navigate to Applications > Applications and click the FlashArray application.
- Open the Application entitlements tab and click Create entitlement.
- Set the Name to a FlashArray role, such as
array_admin, and click Create. - Expand the entitlement and bind the users or groups that should receive the role.
Assign each FlashArray user one of these entitlements.
Copy the identity provider settings
- Navigate to Applications > Providers and click the provider that you created.
- Under Related objects, click Download signing certificate.
- Under SAML Configuration, copy the EntityID/Issuer and SAML Endpoint values.
Everpure FlashArray configuration
FlashArray can fetch the authentik metadata URL only when it trusts the TLS certificate that authentik serves. This guide enters the identity provider settings manually, which works with a certificate from a private CA.
-
Log in to the FlashArray web interface as an administrator.
-
Click Settings, then click Users and Policies under Access.
-
In the SAML2 SSO section, click + and configure the following settings:
- Name: provide a descriptive name.
- Array URL:
https://flasharray.company, the same URL that you use to open the FlashArray web interface. - IdP Entity ID: the EntityID/Issuer value from authentik.
- URL: the SAML Endpoint value from authentik.
- Verification Certificate: click Edit, paste the contents of the signing certificate that you downloaded from authentik, and click Save.
Leave Enabled off until the test in Test and enable SAML2 SSO succeeds.
-
Click Save.
-
In the SAML2 SSO section, copy the Assertion Consumer URL.
Update the authentik provider
- Log in to authentik as an administrator and open the authentik Admin interface.
- Navigate to Applications > Providers and click the edit icon next to the FlashArray provider.
- Set the ACS URL to the Assertion Consumer URL that you copied from FlashArray.
- Click Save Changes.
Test and enable SAML2 SSO
- In the FlashArray web interface, open Settings > Users and Policies and find your configuration in the SAML2 SSO section.
- Click Test, then click E2E Test. A new browser tab opens the authentik login.
- Log in to authentik as a user who has a FlashArray entitlement. FlashArray then shows a blank page, which you can close.
- Back in the original tab, click Check E2E Test Results. The result should be Success. Click Close.
- Edit the SAML2 SSO configuration, turn on Enabled, and click Save. When FlashArray asks you to confirm, click Proceed to Save.
Configuration verification
To confirm that authentik is properly configured with FlashArray, log out of FlashArray and open the FlashArray application from the authentik User interface. After you log in to authentik, FlashArray should sign you in with the role from your entitlement.
